Implementation Strategy:
Two main implementation strategies that are priorities to Poland include:
1.       Flood risk management plans for river basin districts.
2.       Development of a drought management plan.

A national program of surface water re-naturalization- an action aimed at identifying the threats and causes of hydro morphological changes in watercourses and at planning remedial actions that will enable the achievement of environmental objectives for these watercourses.

Note*: A plan on how the strategy will be monitored is still being developed for the country, and the cost of the implementation of the new sustainable development agenda is unknown.

Climate in Relation to Water and Sanitation:
Rainfall: Poland’s total water balance depends on the amount of rainfall in the river basins, its distribution over time and the natural and artificial retention potential, including the ability to utilize rainwater.

Water and Sanitation are issues for Poland due to the fact that Poland is characterized by relatively small water resources of about 1,580 m3/year per inhabitant, which is only about 35% of the European average. Given the population density, Poland often faces water scarcity problems in some areas of the country.

Resources:
EU Structural Funds- investments in wastewater management outside Poland, in the Bug River catchment area is being implemented.
